Well, well, well, look what the wind blew in! Super Pickle (aka SP) arrived on Monday. I knew he had the potential to be trouble as he got himself in a pickle out in Iowa at JavaJunkee’s, so I wasn’t taking any chances when he arrived. I had the guard dog (Gus) ready. Gus stood by me when I took SP out of his box and when SP jumped out Gus could immediately sense trouble.
Gus promised me he’d keep an eye on SP at all times. He said it would be better if Ridley stayed away from SP because he tends to be a bit high strung. Gus could see that SP was going to be a handful and thought that his brother just might decide to rip SP apart if he tried anything funny.
Gus was such a good watch dog. He hung out with SP the first few hours after his arrival while I made dinner and E did her homework.
SP thought it was pretty neat riding around on Gus’s back. Gus, on the other hand, quickly got fed up with SP. He didn’t find it amusing that SP was kicking him in the side, yelling “Yah, mule, yah!” Gus said, “You think I”m a mule? Well, then, here ya go…” and he bucked him off!
Gus was not going to put up with SP’s shenanigans and said, “That’s it, buddy, you think you’re super, but I don’t”. He then hooked SP in his collar, planted himself in front to the tv and forced SP to watch two episodes of “The Dog Whisperer”.
I let Gus have a rest from guard duty and Super Pickle and I sat down with E to watch some television. SP wasn’t into watching American Idol with us so he grabbed E’s Teen magazine and started reading.
SP was shocked to read about how old the Jonas Brothers were. He also didn’t understand all the fuss about Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus.
SP was tired from all his traveling so we all decided to get some rest.
SP said he slept fairly well until the dog’s retching at 5 a.m. woke him. He said he’d never seen a dog projectile vomit like that. I explained that I never had either and that it wasn’t a common occurrence around here. I apologized for the rude awakening and suggested that maybe he’d better sleep in E’s room tonight. He agreed.
We headed off to work. SP was not thrilled that he had to spend the morning in a stinky, old museum but I promised he could play around a bit if he didn’t tell anyone.
I explained that he could pretend that the spinning wheel was a ferris wheel – but he wasn’t buying it. He said, “I’m pretty sure I’ll get splinters from this old thing”. I think SP was miffed because he just couldn’t seem to get into any trouble on his visit.
We then headed to pick up E at school. I made sure to not leave my car unattended. I wasn’t going to have any pickle joy rides on my hands. We sat in the school parking lot and waited. Miss Kate was parked next to us and she was surprised to see Super Pickle.
Even though he constanlty had a smile on his face, SP was often annoyed at how slow-paced everything seemed to be in my town. I told him to take a chill pill. I knew he was used to the pace of the Chicago ‘burbs but never thought he’d be so antsy. Sheesh, JQ, you must keep him very busy!
E finally got out of school and headed for the car, waving at SP because she knew he would be leaving soon.
We took SP to the post office and he is now on his way to Starla’s. Hope you have a good time with Super Pickle, Starla. He’s really no trouble at all – as long as you keep your eye on him!.
Wow!! Where to begin.. well, I LOVED the pics! My favorite was “Bored at work” but I also loved, loved, loved “Bad Pickle” where he was forced to watch two hours of Dog Whisperer. (I happen to love Caesar !!)
The picture of the spinning wheel in your museum really captured my attention since I am a spinner! Is it complete??
And finally..what happened to your dogster to cause projectile vomiting during the night? Sounds like you’ve had a pretty eventful couple of days!!!
Oh, and only you could ever come up with “Super Pickliscious “!! LMFAO!!!
Oh, I Looooove Caesar! It wasn’t torture for me to watch the Dog Whisperer…but I thought it might be for Super Pickle!
The spinning wheel – I believe it is complete…there is also one sitting next to it, you can kinda see it in the picture…it’s a bit bigger. I should have taken a full shot so you can see them both. I’ll try and remember to do that at some point…just for you, my dear!
Not sure what happened to my puppyliscious that night. He woke up from a sound sleep and started barfing everywhere. I thought maybe Super Pickle fed him something he wasn’t supposed to. 😈 But, he was fine the rest of the day. Just one of those dog mysteries.
“Yah, mule, yah!” POOR GUS! I thought my SP had better manners than that. He probably thought Gus was a horse just because he’s so use to the little wiener dogs at our house *snort*. I’m so sorry he was rude and impatient! Dang, he sounds like a little snob, actually. A trouble making snob. I’m going to have to punish his tart little ass when he gets home! I hope he behaves better at Starla’s 🙂
Shari, this is great and I love you to death! xoxoxoxo {{HUGS}}
PS Your daughter is beautiful and I love seeing her smiley face!
Heehee. I figured SP was so used to Doxies he wouldn’t know what to think about my monster-sized dog! Naw, he wasn’t a snob…just out of sorts seeing as he’s been traveling so much.
Love you, too, JQ!
Cute! I love that Gus did such a good job and didn’t let Ridley have his way with SP.
He’s such a good boy. He couldn’t even let Ridley get a sniff of SP…or he would have chowed him down!
“That’s it, buddy, you think you’re super, but I don’t”. He then hooked SP in his collar, planted himself in front to the tv and forced SP to watch two episodes of “The Dog Whisperer”.
ROFLMAO………ok besides spouses, kids , pets and now obviously the public…spose any of them think we are all off our nuts? Better question yet is DO WE CARE?? 🙂
I’m just happy pickle didn’t try to ride that spinner…that could have resulted in a HUGE MESS!
I love your daughter smiling and waving…I wonder in the back of her mind she’s thinking. “I better get used to waving I may be doing this with mom when the nice men in the white suits come to take her away”!
Heh. It’s getting pretty bad. I have to explain myself everywhere I go…seeing as I usually whip out the traveling buddy and everyone’s eyes get real big. I’m sure they’re thinking, “This chick is outta her mind”. I just laugh and say, “Do you mind posing for a picture?”
Yeah, the spinning wheel could have been a big mess…and I probably would have been fired for messing with a million year old museum piece.
My daughter was freaked out. Notice, she’s doing the subdued, I-hope-no-one-sees-this wave. She got in the car and sighed, “When are you going to stop this?” Hahahahahaha…nevah, my child…nevah!!!!
HAHAHA!! Javajunkee has a point, darlin’! Your daughter does have that look where you can imagine her thinking through that clenched smile ” “hi, mommy…hi, superpickle…what the HELL is she doing? she shows up at my SCHOOL in front of my FRIENDS with this thing…oh my God….it’s like The United States of Tara…. help me” grin grin grin….
((((((me holding tummy laughing)))))))
Don’t worry. I’ll be there in that Funny Farm to keep you company, along with JJ and the others!!!
And that was EXACTLY what she was thinking. She’s had a good sense of humor about all this but when I showed up at school and SP was in the window I saw her face turn red! I was going to whip SP out at the grocery store and she said, “Geez, they’ll probably kick us out.” I think she thinks momma is going a bit too far with the visitors. But, shit, I’m having a ball with it…plus, I know you all will be right there with me at the Funny Farm. Don’t forget to bring the wine!
I really liked the pics of your dog. The first one is just really cute and in the other two your dog is looking at you with a look that says “oh for crying out loud, are you serious?? The things I do for this human are ridiculous.” haha love it!
Thanks, bluesuit. He’s such a good sport…but his facial expressions do make you wonder if he’s just fed up with all the crap I make him do!!
Poor Gus! Gawd, how I love labs and he did such a good job of putting up with SP when he had to but am glad he made him watch Dog Whisperer attacked to the collar!!!!!!!!!!!! LMFAO!!!! You are hysterical!!!!!
Humans are ridiculous!!! I’m loving these antics!!!
Labs are the best…and the best natured. He’d pretty much let me do anything to him. Now, the Border Collie, on the other hand, had to remain out of the picture. He would have torn Super Pickle to shreds! I couldn’t even let him see SP for a brief instant…he’d start barking frantically and want to attack.
I’m quite amused at how much fun I’m having with the visitors. Doesn’t take much, when you have no life. Ha!
I mean “attached” to his collar.
OMG the face on gus is priceless! 🙂
I know! I laughed my ass off when I saw that face! Seriously, this dog has an expression for everything. He’s my boy!
Ah, Super Pickle. And Gus was so accommodating, to. He’s got to be a Super Dog. Good combo for super heros. Oh, btw. I am on a different blog now.
Gus is such a funny boy. Now, my other dog would have ripped the heck out of Super Pickle but Gus, he just looked at him questioningly. Good combo, indeed…Super Pickle and Dog Wonder?
Hi 2,
I’ve sampled some super pickles in my time, like the ones my grandmother made, but none could leap buildings in a single bound. Although, there a few that could make you leap to the bathroom in a single bound.
the Grit
Hey Grit,
You make me choke on my coffee every time I read your comments! I certainly wasn’t going to chomp on Super Pickle…even though I love me some pickles!
hahaha…I love all the pics you shot of SP, he could have his own sit-com!! (and omg, those sneakers are freakin’ adorable 😉 )
He COULD have his own show. He’s so darn cute…AND stylish!
wweeeeeeeeee ! super pickle!
yes!! he’s my fav-or-ite!
He’s the bomb-diggity!
Super Pickle! Gus looks non too thrilled about your guest but he’s a good sport, eh?
He’s a very good sport…and I hate to say it, but I had to take advantage of his good sportedness!
That pickle kicks so much amount of ass.
A huge amount of ass. For sure.
HAHA! I love Super Pickle! He is so cute. He also looks like he could easily get up to no good, though, huh? 😉
Hi Teeni!
Welcome back! You’ve been missed around here.
Super Pickle is a super dude, even if he does have a bit of an attitude!
I went to the “Buddy Site” that Lisa made for our traveln’ buddies and clicked the link to come here. These pics made me lol all over again! So sweet Shari! Hope things are well for you, E, and the pupaliciousness’s. I know, not a word but a great way to describe them!
