Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to mmmmmeeeeee, Happy Birthday to me! Yes, another year has come and gone. But, hey, when you’re full of youth like me (heh) what’s one more year? I’m one of those gals that likes to make a big deal of the birthday…always have, always will. I’d spread it out for weeks if I could. This year I get to celebrate for a full 3 days. Woo hoo!
The festivites began last night when we met for our usual Wednesday night cocktails & conversation at the lake. Everyone did a great job of keeping the birthday bash hush, hush…even the daughter. As I was engrossed in conversation with friends the owner of the restaurant (where we get together) comes walking out with a HUGE cake and everyone starts singing. Yay me!
Then the cards and presents started flowing. A very, very dear friend had a ring made especially for my birthday :
Turquoise…my favorite, and my favorite color. Yipee for birthdays! Yes, I have long fingers…and fat knuckles so I need a BIG bonking ring.
More pressies:
YUM. The girl child got me this dark, delicious chocolate.
And my bestest friend, J, who is visiting from Florida got me a fine bottle of vino. I’ll (we’ll) be drinking that this evening.
Sis got me this fine cutting board along with a bag full o’ goodies that I didn’t take pics of. Love the bamboo. Folks, run out and get yourself bamboo utensils and a cutting board – they won’t stain, split, or get moldy. (How’s that for advertising?)
And then the cake (well, what’s left of it):
It was HUGE…and delicious! Thanks, Julie – you’re the best! And that is all that is left. Sorry, I didn’t save enough for everyone. That was it for the pre-birthday festivities. Oh, and then I came home and closed out the day by talking to my love. What could be better?
This morning my child served me breakfast in bed and then we all gathered at the lake for coffee. Now I’m headed to the pool for some birthday relaxation and tanning. Tomorrow evening is the girl’s night/birthday dinner celebration. We’ll be dining lake-side once again and will surely have a grand ol’ time.
Happy Birthday!!! I too love to celebrate my birthday and let everyone know it. Love the ring. I had to pass over the chocolate quickly. I love bamboo stuff. I have bamboo utensils but not a Ming cutting board. He’s so cute. I had to quickly pass over the cake too. Enjoy the rest of your birthday celebration!!
Thanks, Joan! I think I love to celebrate so much because I was only allowed to have ONE (yep, just one) birthday party when I was younger (when I was seven, actually) and that was IT. Boo hoo. So, now I have to make up for that.
Sorry to entice you with the chocolate and the cake. I’m being terribly bad this week and eating (and drinking) whatever I want. Funny, no one’s even noticed the fork marks in the pic of the cake…’cause I’ve been picking at it all morning. For shame.
Happy Birthday! Today is a glorious day.
Thank you, B5, how kind of you.
Happy Birthday to you!
Thanks, M!
Happy Birfday!! Hope you have a good one! Luv the ring!! ๐
Thanks HSBF! Haven’t seen you in so long. Hope you are well!
Happy Birthday to you!!!! Love that ring!
Thanks, Girly. You know, it would be so much more fun if I could share the festivities with all of you. Ooooo…talk about a party. Woo!
I lurve the ring. It’s just magnificent. I can’t stop looking at it!
Wow! You made out like a bandit – what a wonderful ring and a lovely time you described. Happiest of birthdays to you (so far)! Hugs to you!
Thanks, Teeni!
I do love the ring. It’s so…um, mesmerizing. Hugs back to you! I am having a lovely, relaxing day. Just finished that bottle of wine with my dear friend. What could be better?
Ooooo…I’m so peeved that I didn’t guess Portugal. It’s one of the places I’ve always wanted to visit.
Hi 2,
Many happy returns! That chocolate, which I have had the pleasure of sampling, is quite good and well described by the label. I’d also like to point out that one can’t have too many cutting boards!
the Grit
Hey Grit,
Thanks!
I’ve actually never had that chocolate before…I have tried the Twilight Dark…but not the Midnight Reverie. Sounds so intriguing…no?
Absolutely…you can NEVER have too many cutting boards. I am particularly fond of my very large, round bamboo cutting board sitting on my counter…but will find a use for the one my sis got me.
Sounds like a fantastic celebration, and you got some great loot! Happy, happy birthday to you (and thanks to your mom for popping you out into the world)!
Thanks, Moonbeam. I did get some great loot. I didn’t even include pics of the gift cards and misc sundries I got. Plus, we drank a bunch of champagne. Woo. It was an EVENT!
Happy Birthday my love.
Thank you, ye of abridged commenting.
I love you.
Happy Birthday.
You made out like a bandit. Good for you. ๐
i am partial to my glass cutting board because my knives are cu-razy sharp and i kept getting bits of wood in my veggies and things.
That ring is groovy.
Thank you, c.
I did get some great loot. Oh, a glass cutting board? I’d never thought of that. I have a huge, round bamboo cutting board on my counter that I just lurve. I’ve never taken a chunk out of it…yet.
The ring is groovy, indeed. It can also be used as a weapon, if needed.
Yay! Happy Birthday!
Thanks, Talea.
Yay! For being born!
…and for presents…
…and friends…
…and of course, wine!
Happy Birthday!!!
Chocalate Cake!!! Hells Yeah!!!
Thanks, love.
Oh yes…chocolate, chocolate…all the way!
Happy Birthday to you- Whoooo! Gosh, it sounds like you have mega plans- and they all sound so good – – wish I were there celebrating too ๐
Have a great Birthday weekend! The pictures are great, and love the ring, it’s beautiful! Big knuckles? Shut up!

Just checked in (late as usual) and want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to YOU!!! Since the celebration will still be going on thru Saturday I don’t feel too belated!
Sounds like life is pretty darned good right now, girl. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! You have great friends, a kewl kid, and a new love. What a grand year! What could be better?

Trisha
Hey Trisha!
Glad to see you’re back. Hope you had a splendid time with D!
Thanks so much for the birthday wish!
It is a grand year. Yipee!
Happy Birthday. Imagine me singing you the birthday song and messing up all the hard parts! You are blessed to have such wonderful friends, and to my eyes you have beautiful hands the ring is a nice compliment! Happy, Happy Birthday! Hugs to you!
Hi DDTD. Ha. I’m imagining you signing and messing up all the hard parts! Good times.
I am very blessed to have such great friends…and such a wonderful blog family!
I always think my hands look man-ish so the ring is a nice feminine touch. Even though it is so heavy I could use it to break someone’s nose. Heh.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!! Wow, sounds like the night was a blast and the weekend looks to be the same. Loved the ring and the cake looks positively divine and so does the dark chocolate!
Thanks, bluesuit. So far I’ve had a blast and am looking forward to continuing the celebration this evening when I dine with all my girlfriends.
Mmmm…love that chocolate. I’ve overdosed on it the last few days, though. My belly hurts.
umm…Ghirardelli, if that goes missing…well I guess it’s a good thing that you live far away.
and happy day to you all over again!
Ha. Everyone wants to steal my Ghiradelli. I’ll share it!
Thanks again, Cowgal!! Hope you have a great weekend.
Funny about the ring as a weapon.
My wedding ring is named Slice-n-Dice. Seriously.
It’s scratched everyone i know twice at least.
My husband bears most of the scars, poor darling…
Hahahaha. Slice-n-Dice. That’s great.
I want a Slice-n-Dice.
This ring is more of a Pound-n-Mound kinda ring.
Aww . happy birthday.
looove that ring!
Thanks, Red.
The ring is groovy…I can’t stop staring at it!
Happy (belated) Birthday!!! Big hugs! JPWK
Thanks JPWK! Looking forward to seeing you this week. Just got your email and will chat with the girls to see if we can’t plan a little somethin’, somethin’!
